Create your account and workspace

Your workspace holds your company’s connections and investigations. The person who creates it becomes its first admin and can invite the rest of the team.

Sign up

1. On the Tracewell website, select Start a pilot.
2. Enter your full name, your work email, a password of at least 12 characters and your company’s name. The company name becomes the workspace’s name.
3. Select Create workspace. Tracewell sends a confirmation link to your address.
4. Open the link in the email. It works once. If it has expired, enter your email on the page it opens and Tracewell sends a new one.
5. Select Go to your workspace and log in with your email and password.

Set up two-step verification

Every Tracewell account needs two-step verification. Right after your first log-in, choose how you confirm it’s you:

• Passkey (recommended): your fingerprint, face or device PIN. Nothing to type.
• Authenticator app: a 6-digit code from an app such as 1Password, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Scan the QR code with the app, or type the key shown below it, then enter the code the app shows.

Tracewell then shows 10 recovery codes. Each one logs you in once if you lose your phone or passkey. Save them somewhere safe, or select Download as a text file: Tracewell doesn’t show them again.

You can add the other method, reset your authenticator app or get new recovery codes later under Account in the menu with your name. At least one method stays set up.

Log in

1. Select Log in on the Tracewell website and enter your email and password.
2. Confirm it’s you with your passkey or the code from your authenticator app. Without either, select Lost your phone or passkey? Use a recovery code.

After several wrong passwords or codes, log-ins for your account pause for a few minutes.

Reset a forgotten password

1. On the log-in page, select Forgot password? and enter your email.
2. Open the link in the email. It works once, for 1 hour.
3. Enter a new password. You’re logged out on every other device, and you confirm it’s you with two-step verification as usual.

To change a password you know, go to Account and use Change password.
